I once felt that Love did not exist
That we were just nihilistic animals just breeding until we die
I was sad, Ignorant, Ungrateful
I felt alone.
I wanted nothing, I felt nothing;
Death sounded like a sanctuary of nothing
But
Then
I thought of my Mother
I heard her laugh and I saw her smile
Carrying me for nine hungry, tiring months to bring me life
And love me unconditionally past her last breath
So what am I?
She braved over one hundred months through fourteen pregnancies
with a man who does not deserve her love
and raised twelve children on her own and still have the love and energy to cut the crust of off my peanut-butter and jelly sandwich
SO WHAT AM I?
I will reflect her and learn how to love.
Love is patient, love is kind.
Love.... is kind of crazy
It will find you when you have lost yourself in a storm of fear and hatred
Love will talk to you when no one else could understand you
Love is more than a bond between two humans
Love is Everything
Love is the laugh of your significant other
The way they lift your spirit
Love is paying attention to detail
Love is the butterflies in your stomach after your first kiss
The nostalgia when you come home after being away for far too long
Love is in the tears you cry after saying goodbye to an old friend
Love is always there
Silently, modestly waiting for you to need her.
I feared her. I pushed her away, even told her I hated her.
She never hated me. Never resented me either. Just waited. Waited for me to accept her. Waited for me to come home.
